Opportunities

“You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35

Ministry should never become an obligation; something that is dreaded or tiresome. On the contrary, ministry should be spiritually fulfilling and enabling you to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Please ask God what He would want you to do based on your gifts and abilities, and then serve in that position with your whole heart.  As you think about what God might be leading you to do, here are some areas in the ministry that are available to you (all positions can be bi-weekly, once a month, or once a quarter):

Ages 0-2 - You’ll be holding and playing with babies and infants, while demonstrating the love of Christ to them in tangible ways. There are also some paid positions available.

JR. Kids (Ages 3 and 4) - Crafts, games, stories, singing, coloring, acting, playing, eating, and pretty much anything that involves some kind of movement are the things that occur in the pre-school ministries. If you have the gift of patience, creativity, and energy, you will be immensely blessed to serve these little ones.

ET Kids (K-5th grade) - You’ll be partnering with children as you explore the depths of God’s Word through object lessons, games, worship, and simply being a friend to them. If you can sing or enjoy doing motions to songs, you would make an excellent praise and worship leader. If you like to speak to a large group of kids and enjoy the challenge of capturing their attention, you would make a great speaker for the object lessons and sermons. If your skills are technical, you can be used to run the sound booth. Even if you don’t want to do anything more than sit by kids and love on them, we can use you. There IS a place for you!

Sunday School - If you want the opportunity to build lasting relationships with a small group of kids, teaching a Sunday School class is a great way to start. You’ll get to take your liberty in teaching the lesson and making it applicable for the kids however you see fit. If you like to be in control, this is a great position for you.

Girls Ministries - There’s something pretty amazing about a bunch of girls getting together once a week to meet in clubs. The excitement level is high, and so is the dedication of the girls and teachers. If you can commitment once a week to helping in a classroom or teaching it, you’ll thrive in this position.

Royal Rangers - If you want to make a difference in the lives of young men, please consider helping out once a week in this program. Besides the conventional worksheet, you’ll get the opportunity to bond with boys through camp outs, smoking meet, rope tying, and pinewood car racing.

Besides the aforementioned specific programs that all involve direct interaction with children, there are many other areas in which you could serve. Greeters are needed to welcome families every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening and to assist them in checking in. This is great for kind and smiley people. Creative people are needed to organize and come up with crafts, design bulletin boards, and occasionally re-design the decor of classrooms. Role-models are needed, both male and female, to simply be with the kids, talk with them, be their friend, and set a godly example for them.

If there is some area that wasn’t listed that you think you could be of some help in, please don’t hesitate to contact Pastor Melia. melia@etchurch.org. Otherwise, signup to volunteer by clicking on the link under the “I want to get involved” tab that says “sign up now”. God will bless you for your service!
